The final two hours of Tabula Rasa consisted of a major attack by the Bane and Neph. Almost everyone was in a level 50 character and running around on all zones. The attackers were epic level, much higher level than the players, so it took about 10 level 50's to kill any of the Bane. One by one the zones fell, and as they did, they were shutdown and the players in that zone were teleported to the Cellar. From there they could return to many of the zones that were still open, but eventually all players were returned to the Cellar and funneled into the return to Earth. Earth, previously a level 50 instance, but for The Final Stand it was converted into a zone where all players of all levels could be together.
Over my year in Tabula Rasa (I started February 2008), I built level 50 characters in 5 of the 8 character classes. I decided to play my final night with my first level 50 - an engineer named "Way Cooler". It just made sense to end the game as I had started, as an engineer, and let my turrets do the fighting.
For the final 30 minutes, I grouped up with my friends at the end of the Earth zone. There was no fighting there so we just danced, shot off fireworks, and had a good time. The admin messages came expressing appreciation for all who had played Tabula Rasa and had enjoyed any part of their labor of love. The final goodbye's from the players, the final 10 second countdown, and then my screen said,
"You have been disconnected from the Server."
I clicked "OK", the sound effects stopped, and I was left staring at my desktop.
