Greetings, 38 Studios is a gaming company that plans to get involved with MMOs... but have yet to make an MMO title, yet they have large monetary support. The three "entities" at the head of 38 studios are former baseball pitcher, Curt Schilling... Spawn creator and animator, Todd McFarlane... and NY Times best selling fictional author, R.L. Salvatore.
I ran the idea by Curt Schilling through his blog, 38pitches.com. Mainly focusing on the existing playerbase, uniqueness of the game, final polish on the game and lack of previous marketing so the title was ripe for a re-launch.
His response was that they were looking to develop a title and not buy a title... but maybe your more detailed plan could catch on. I know that Todd McFarlane has been very receptive to email ideas... from what to do with the Barry Bonds record breaking baseball to purchasing a small percentage of a Canadian hockey team to help it stay in Canada.
deleted mac, because they attach to personal information which is confidential. They are our property but only within that account. The moment it leaves that company to go to another, they assert their confidentiality privilege and it is wiped.
Also usually the new company would do things to the game that make it different, thus what we had may jeopardize their changes so they'd rather people start from scratch.
I Think this would be a great opportunity for the Studio as TR has the opening to horror. As long as they don't change to much of the early stuff I think you could keep the fan base while adding the things Mcfarlane and R.L. Stine (sorry for the misspellings) are known for (especially if they were boss monsters) I think the fans would stay.
This would then bring in the money needed to develop a new MMO of their own.
